LensCrafters was the first company of its kind to offer the convenience of getting an eye exam and choosing stylish frames fitted with the latest high tech lenses in one location. What’s more, LensCrafters was able to make most glasses at their on-site lab in only about an hour.

A concept that revolutionary and forward thinking quite naturally took off. Its success was such that it caught the attention of Italian eyewear giant Luxottica S.p.A which acquired LensCrafters in 1995. It was a perfect marriage.

Luxottica Retail, maker of some of the world's most stylish frames, now had a broad retail distribution network. And LensCrafters could offer a huge selection of beautiful, Italian-designed eyewear.
